The project: Convert the mercedes benz 300D sedan to run on WVO (waste vegetable oil)
Stage 3: Hose in Hose (HIH)
Starting from the back, two half inch rubber heater lines come from trunk. One is attacked to the HIH system, and the other travels all the way up to the engine compartment.
Sine people were asking, this is how the HIH is constructed (from frybrid.com)
The half inch copper line poking out the end is the fuel supply line.
Next, the 1 inch HIH and the 1/2 inch return line travel through the driveshaft tunnel, missing the driveshaft in some places by approximately 1/2 inch.
Then it makes a swooping bend, and follows the exhaust pipe into the engine compartment.
Right now the system looks like this:
ENGINE -> 3/4" hose into heater core -> 3/4 " hose to HIH --> under car --> 1/2" hose --> into trunk -> 3/8" copper heater element -> 1/2" host --> out of trunk --> under car --> auxilliary coolant pump -> ENGINE.
